It's weird out here as a woman.

It’s weird out here as a woman.

Be less. Be more.
Speak up. Quiet down.
Look perfect. Don’t be vain.
Follow God. Not like that.

I have a new routine on Sundays, especially the weeks I get to preach. I spend the morning praying for other women who are doing the same thing.

For peace of a mind.
For a humble spirit.
For retention of content.
For confidence in their giftings.
For comfort in their bodies.
For receptive hearts to listen.

Ladies, I see you
pre-presentation.
pre-message.
pre-interview.
pre-sermon.
pre-hard conversation.

Choosing your outfit.
Picking the shoes.
Matching the right makeup.
YouTubing how to apply it.
Wrestling unruly hair.
Changing your shirt.
Debating a blazer.
Throwing a shoe.
Steadily tracing the liner.

Breathing deeply in the mirror while you gaze into your own eyes to give yourself the mental pep talk that only you can deliver to the deepest insecurities daring to bubble up and out over the edge of everything you just worked so hard to put perfectly together.

You are not conceited for caring about how you look.
You are not frivolous for liking fun clothes.
You are not vain for feeling like yourself in a bold lip.
You are not flashy for standing taller in heels.
You are not narcissistic for doing what makes you feel comfortable in your body.

And you are not allowed to be downplayed or minimized or patronized for whatever it is that makes you feel like you, whether it’s a power suit or fur lined pumps or anything in between.

I just felt like someone needed to know that today.

P.S. Kate Boyd inspired this new routine when she tagged me in her outfit prep. KEEP TAGGING ME IN YOUR OUTFITS LADIES. May equipping people to talk about Jesus and look good while doing it be my legacy.
